Fathers day cards and gifts.

The celebration of Father's Day has a history of over a hundred years and in most countries around the world it normally takes place on the third Sunday in June. There are also commemorations on other different dates throughout the year around the world.

Fathers Day Cards:

The giving of Fathers day cards and gifts have become part of the celebrations. Cards are often also presented to Grandfathers and sometimes Godfathers as a token of appreciation and love. Cards that are becoming increasingly popular each year are personalised fathers day cards. These have loving messages professionally printed on the card and can even have uploaded images put onto the card for an even more special effect for unique Fathers day cards.
It is thought that it all began in West Virginia, United Sates of America on 5th July 1908. Coincidentally, this is the same year that the first Mother's Day celebrations actually began as well. This first holding of Fathers Day celebrations was started by Mrs Grace Golden Clayton in remembering over 200 men who were killed in the terrible Mining Disaster in West Virginia, USA in 1907. Another Father's Day was then celebrated in 1910 in Washington, USA. This one was held on the third Sunday in June and this became the norm in most countries around the world.
As yet the Father's day in the UK is not treated as a Public Holiday although most people believe that it and Mother's Day should both be made into public holidays.
